Basil Bilanenko

Basil’s interest in photography started during primary school days with the use of a Kodak box camera. By early high school he was using a 35mm SLR camera and was developing and printing his own work. After leaving school Basil worked part-time as a wedding photographer for a photographic studio in Sydney. Later he ran his own wedding photography business together with a close friend before moving to Canberra.

In Canberra Basil has become a long standing member of the Canberra Photographic Society and has been the recipient of several major awards for his work in monochrome and colour photography. His passion for photography has primarily focused on landscape and action photography. Basil strives for images that convey mood, movement and boldness.

In April 2008, Basil and his wife Kerry embarked on a 12 month long journey to travel around Australia. A total distance in excess of 52,000 km was covered and included every state and territory in Australia. During the journey they encountered some amazing and diverse landscapes. These landscapes were captured on a Nikon D300 digital SLR camera using various Nikon lenses.
